You can’t remember the file name
Describe it by what’s inside or when you made it — “last year’s financials spreadsheet,” “anything about the contract with Acme” — and Stowlight looks for it.
For Windows · Your PC, OneDrive, and Google Drive
Stowlight finds files on your PC through a conversation with AI. You don’t need to remember the file name — type “the quote I made last month,” and it finds it.
Today, Stowlight is available in Japanese only (Windows 10 and 11). We’re building the English version — join the waitlist and we’ll let you know when it’s ready.
This is the current Japanese app. In Japanese, the user asks for “the quote I made last month,” then “just the ones for Yamada Trading,” then “where’s the fire insurance policy?” Recorded in real time on about 9,400 files from a fictional company.

Desktop, Downloads, OneDrive, Google Drive. Even when your files are scattered, it searches them all at once.
Follow up with “just the ones from September,” and it narrows down the previous answer. You can step back to an earlier result at any time.
Just describe what you’re looking for. The AI searches by file name, folder name, contents, and date — and tells you why each file matched.
Every file on your PC appears as a dot. While it searches, light sweeps across the map and the candidates and answers glow. Click one to open it.
Keep refining with “of those, …” one step at a time. Ask “how many images are there?” and get the count and breakdown right away.
Add-on
Finds files that contain ID numbers, card numbers, bank account numbers, passwords, and more, and marks them in red on the map. Move them to a safe folder or to the Recycle Bin right there. The check runs only on your PC — nothing is sent to the AI or to our server.
Stay calm and ready when a disaster or a cyberattack hits.
Right after a disaster or an accident, it’s hard to think straight — you can’t recall the file name or where you saved it. With Stowlight, you just type whatever comes to mind. It uses names, contents, and dates to find the file fast.
Searching in plain language requires an internet connection. The map and the sensitive-file inventory work entirely on your PC.
If someone ever breaks into your PC, the damage grows with every piece of sensitive data you didn’t know was there. The sensitive-file inventory scans your PC and synced folders in one pass and pinpoints files that contain information like this:
The check runs only on your PC. Values it finds are shown masked and are never sent to the AI or our server. After the first run, it re-reads only files that have changed, so it works well for regular check-ups. There are limits: for files stored only in the cloud, for example, it judges by the file name.
The search happens on your PC. Finding files and opening them to read happen entirely on your computer. Stowlight never uploads whole files to the cloud.

The search runs on your PC. The AI receives your request and the name, location, date, and size of the files found. It reads a file’s contents only when it needs to check a candidate, and then only the beginning (usually up to 1,500 characters). You can exclude folders from search in the settings, and the app shows you everything it sent to the AI.
Stowlight uses Claude, by Anthropic (USA). Our server keeps only when you used it and how much. It doesn’t store your requests, search results, or file contents.
Not right now. Stowlight runs on Windows 10 and 11.
We’ve tested it on PCs with about 100,000 files. The first run takes a few minutes to build the file list. After that, it re-reads only what has changed, so it’s ready right away.
